Answer to "bad audio"...once again
Message:

Once again, I will personally answer this question for Ms. Dorough.

For two years, whenever there appeared problems with audio quality, T3 Software has always asked users what type of microphone they were using.  When it wasn't an industry-specific microphone, T3 has told its customers that an omni-directional, industry-specific microphone will solve the problem.  These can be purchased on either the Stenograph or Eclipse web sites.  The vast majority of these customers purchased this microphone and thanked us for the helpful tip.

When posed this same question, all major CAT manufacturers answer the same way.  Their first tip is always to grab an omni-directional, industry-specific microphone.  These answers, with many helpful links, have been forwarded on to Ms. Dorough as we have tried to provide solutions and work on her problem with her.

Ms. Dorough is unhappy with this answer, extremely so, which is fine.  You can't please all the people all the time.

Here is the reality:  T3 puts a massive compression, the best currently available in terms of the Quality-to-Compression ratio, on files to vastly increase speed of transfer.  A file recorded with the strength of an industry-specific microphone EASILY survives this compression and gives the scopist a strong audio file to work with.  This is the state of technology as it exists today.  IF technology existed in a better state, we would use it.  It simply does not exist in a better capacity.

Ms. Dorough, we have given you the best answer we can, and we've done it several times now.  We've brought in your CAT manufacturer, hoping they might hold more weight with you than we apparently do.  Please do us the professional courtesy of informing us how many other forums you've posted on to mount this campaign.  We've only found two; we're guessing there are others.  We'd like a chance to answer the same accusation yet again if it is, regrettably, placed in even further public settings.

Thank you,
Paul Humbeutel
